When cold season hits, I try to preemptively fill my body with as much Vitamin C as possible. This breakfast smoothie does the trick while also tasting amazing.
We all know that oranges are packed with Vitamin C, which helps us stay healthy. But did you know Vitamin C also reduces cortisol, a stress hormone that can make you have trouble sleeping. I’m such a light sleeper, it’s almost embarrassing. Like the wind blows and I wake up thinking my house is falling down. So pass me the oranges, mama needs her beauty rest. Vitamin also improves your ability to heal and fights inflammation, so you’ll want to be sure you’re getting enough of the wonder vitamin this cold and flu season. This easy breezy smoothie is one of my favorite ways to make sure I’m getting enough vitamins and keeping my immune system healthy and strong.
I made this one fresh, but I also love to meal prep a few smoothies ahead of time if I know I have a busy week coming up. You can chop up the fruit and veggies you’ll be using and store in individual glass containers in your freezer; they’ll stay good for over a month at a time, so you can prep a bunch on a lazy Sunday and not worry about when you’ll get around to them. Just add the plant milk and your frozen goodies to the blender when you’re ready and you’re good to go. I topped mine with blueberries, pomegranate seeds, and chia seeds for added antioxidants and essential amino acids, but any fruits or nuts would do the trick.
